Energy Deshe

A seasoned banker and a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce in Banking & Finance and MBA degrees from the Zimbabwe Open University. Energy has over 18years experience within the financial services sector where he has held various managerial posts. He cut his teeth as a banker in 1991 with Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe, where he held various managerial positions before joining NMB Bank Limited in 2002, where he also worked in various managerial capacities in Retail Banking. He joined FBC Bank as Senior Manager for their flagship branch FBC Centre in 2007 and was actively involved in the setting up of this particular branch. Besides his wealth of experience in the financial sector services Energy, has other notable achievements in his contribution to the success of the various institutions he worked for, especially as capacitated by the academic qualification he attained through the Zimbabwe Open University. He chaired various committees in these institutions, such as the Strategy Formulation Committee, Grievance and Disciplinary Committee, HIV & AIDS Policy Formulation Committee, as well as chairing the Projects Committee for the FBC Centre Renovations and also was the country representative for Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe in the HIV & AIDS Policy formulation Conference for Africa in the Seychelles.

 A winner of several awards in Service Excellence and Grooming & Leadership at Standard Chartered and NMB Bank, Energy is also a Certified Peer Educator with elementary training in counseling. Energy, has participated in various in-house and external courses in leadership and management. Through the intense and quality degree qualifications he got through ZOU, Energy has also been heavily involved in the training of management and staff in the banking sector on “Team Development and Conflict Resolution at the Work Place” through the National Employment Council for the Banking Undertaking. He has also been involved as co-facilitator in various workshops including those for Matsikidze and Mucheche Legal Firm, ZIBAWU and Indigenous Development Corporation of Zimbabwe.

Armed with these academic qualifications attained through this university, he also got the opportunity to be involved in a research project with an internationally renowned consultancy company from USA, BoozAllenHamilton as one of the local facilitators for a month long research on the “The Zimbabwe Business Climate Legal and Institutional Reform (BizCLIR) Diagnostic” in July 2009, under the auspices of USAID. A tutor in his own right who has been lecturing at some tertiary institutions such as Zimbabwe Open University, in such subjects as Macroeconomics, Labour Economics as well as Corporate Governance and Industrial Labour Relations (MBA). He is currently the Board Chairman of a United Methodist Church printing and publishing company and current National Treasurer of ZOUAA. One of his notable milestones being that of representing Zimbabwe at a SADC workshop on “The SADC Capacity Building in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Project”, held in South Africa in February 2011.
