The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) joined the entire nation in the National Clean up Campaign launched by the Office of the President in the capital Harare, on August 3 2017.

Despite the invitation coming on short notice, the institution, through the Harare/Chitungwiza Regional Campus, managed to attend the event with a delegation of close to 50 students and staff members who joined thousands of other members from different departments in the capital.

Speaking at the launch of that campaign, minister of Health and Child Welfare Dr. David Parirenyatwa commended all government institution, private companies, schools and Non-governmental organisations who took heed of the short notice call to be part of the noble cause. In his speech, Dr. Parirenyatwa urged people not to throw litter everywhere in the city before urging the city father to make sure that there are more than enough places where people can dump litter as well as toilets around the city.
