Acting VC Professor A.C. Ncube promises improved service delivery

The Zimbabwe Open University Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Alfred Champion Ncube officially opened and closed the fifth edition of the Vice Chancellor’s Games that were hosted by Manicaland Regional Campus in Mutare.

Professor Kabanda read the official opening and closing speeches on behalf of the Acting Vice Chancellor.

In his speech, Professor Ncube spoke about the need for ZOU to improve service delivery to the students which he said will help keep the University at the same level with other Universities.

However, it was the warm welcome by Mutare Mayor Councillor Tatenda Nhemarare that made all ZOU students that had thronged Mutare for the 5th edition of the VC”s games feel at home.

Councillor Nhemarare made it known that they have a fruitful relationship with Manicaland Regional Campus before mentioning that more partnerships with the Institution of higher learning were on the cards.

He added that a number of Mutare City Council employees had started appreciating programmes that ZOU is offering and most of them had since joined the bandwagon.

As usual, Bulawayo Regional Campus dominated in athletics but this time around faced stiff competition from the host Manicaland Regional Campus who also took control of indoor games and Music and cultural events.

Harare Regional Campus soccer team continued with their fine run beating bitter rivals 3-0 in the final. Harare has won gold in soccer since the inception of the games in Masvingo in 2013.

Mashonaland West Regional Campus will host the next edition of the games in Chinhoyi.
