Practise makes perfect, goes an old saying, true to the statement. The Harare/Chitungwiza Regional Campus which successfully hosted the Miss ZOU Harare beauty pageant on 11 March this year took the form to Manicaland Province where they dominated the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Vice Chancellor’s Games beauty pageant last week.
This was the first time in the history of the games that the event was hosted together with the music and culture night.
Harare/Chitungwiza Regional Campus contestant Charity Mahombera was voted Miss ZOU 2017 beating Vimbai Munyoro, who previously beat her to land the Harare/Chitungwiza Regional Campus beauty pageant crown with Mahombera becoming the first princess. Last week Mahombera beat 13 other contestants. It was just a matter of exchanging positions for the two. Mahombera took over the crown from Faith Mbuse of Matabeleland North, who was unanimously voted Miss ZOU on the pilot event in Bulawayo last year,
Privilege Musvanhise of Midlands was voted second princess Miss ZOU with another Harare Chitungwiza Regional Campus contestant Makaita Saita being voted Miss Personality.
For their sterling performances, all the four contestants won cosmetic hampers and cash amounting to $465, $300, $200 and $100 respectively.
Speaking during the presentation of prizes, Professor David Chakuchichi urged other students from other Regional Campuses to take up modelling which can be used as a source of livelihood.
