Qualifications and Experience

  1. A Doctor of Philosophy in a specialised and vertically integrated path of academic progression from first degree to Doctoral level in any of the following disciplines; Business Management/Administration, Accounting and Financial Management, Economics and its related fields, Banking and Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies;                     
  2. Proven record of innovative and creative applied research work;
  3. Administrative experience or evidence of leadership qualities;
  4. High level cognitive, conceptual and human skills;
  5. A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in an institution of higher learning is a requirement;
  6. Competencies in raising institutional funds; and
  7. Knowledge of distance education would be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Leading in the development and launching of new programmes;
  2. Assisting in the evaluation and improvement of courses;
  3. Developing learning materials/modules for distance learners;
  4. Conducting annual performance reviews of departmental staff members and Part-time Tutors;
  5. Responding to student concerns and attempt to resolve those concerns before submission to the Dean;
  6. Updating department programs as needed;
  7. Engaging, encouraging, and assisting department faculty with scholarly activities and the development of quality curriculum and instruction
  8. Initiating innovative and creative action research that feeds into curricular of current        programmes;
  9. Promoting the University wide initiatives;
  10. Coordinating activities for Diploma/Degree/Master programmes at the Faculty;
  11. Providing academic leadership in materials production, teaching, learning and research;
  12. Promoting community service;
  13. Generating or crafting departmental budgets;
  14. Providing recommendations for tenure, promotion, and termination;
  15. Interfacing with other Faculties; and
  16. Performing any other duties as may be delegated by the Dean.



  1. A minimum qualification of a Master of Laws from a recognised University; and
  2. A PhD in Law or equivalent will be an added advantage.

Required Experience

  1. A minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in a recognised university;

Other Attributes

  1. Knowledge of distance education would be an added advantage.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teaching/Tutoring.
  2. Contributing to knowledge through research oriented activities such as consultancy, advisory work, part-time tutoring, commissioned research and any other similar activities.
  3. Development of Programmes and the production of Distance Teaching and Open Learning (DTOL) materials.
  4. University Service.
