As the strategic hub for the University’s communications and marketing, we manage brand identity, media relations, and internal and external engagement. Our mission is to enhance the University’s reputation and visibility by promoting its academic programs, research breakthroughs, student life, and key achievements through targeted messaging and diverse channels.
We amplify the University’s impact via media outreach, digital platforms, and campaigns, while overseeing marketing materials, website and social media management, events, and publications. By fostering strong media and stakeholder relationships, we ensure transparent communication and uphold the University’s standing as a leader in Open and Distance e-Learning (ODeL).
As the official custodian of the Zimbabwe Open University brand, we collaborate with internal and external partners to maintain a consistent, cohesive brand voice across all platforms, including advertising and events.

Specific Objectives:
- Strengthen the University’s brand, reputation, and visibility through strategic communications and marketing.
- Amplify research impact by promoting breakthroughs via media engagement, digital platforms, and campaigns.
- Collaborate with faculties to effectively market academic programs and student opportunities.
- Enhance stakeholder engagement through corporate branding, and strategic partnerships.
- Coordinate institutional events, exhibitions, and ceremonies to showcase the University’s achievements.
- Serve as the primary media liaison, ensuring timely and transparent communication with press and public.
