ZOU AND ASEZ FORGE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOR GLOBAL SUSTAINABILITY

Strengthening its commitment to “Empowerment Through Open Learning,” the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) convened a high-level strategic meeting this Friday 30 January 2026 to explore collaboration opportunities with ASEZ (Save the Earth from A to Z), an international university student volunteer group.

The meeting, hosted by the Department of Student Affairs in the 2nd Floor Boardroom, was attended by a broad spectrum of ZOU’s leadership. Notable attendees included Ms. T. Chivasa (Dean of Students), Dr. P. Kahwema (Director, PVC Academic Affairs), and Professor S. Nyota (Chairperson, Deans’ Forum), signifying the university’s institutional weight behind this initiative.

The primary objective of the engagement was to discuss cooperation opportunities and draw inspiration from ASEZ’s global track record. Originating from South Korea, ASEZ is renowned for its worldwide environmental and social service initiatives. By aligning with such a proactive international body, ZOU aims to:

Enhance Student Engagement: Provide ZOU students with a platform for global volunteerism and leadership development.
Promote Environmental Stewardship: Implement the “Save the Earth from A to Z” mission within the local Zimbabwean context.
Foster International Synergy: Bridge the gap between local academic registry and international youth movements to inspire innovative community solutions.

This engagement marks a significant step in ZOU’s strategy to internationalize student experience. By seeking “inspiration and cooperation” from global partners like ASEZ, ZOU is positioning its students not just as academic learners, but as proactive global citizens ready to tackle 21st-century challenges.
