The awards validate ZOU’s strategic, multi-layered investment in digital resilience, which was specifically praised by the ICSZ for:
- Adopting a Zero-Trust Framework: Implementing a holistic security model that rigorously verifies every access request.
- Deploying Advanced Infrastructure: Upgrading with enterprise-grade firewalls (Sophos XGS 5500) and sophisticated network segmentation to isolate threats.
- Strengthening Identity Management: Successfully rolling out mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all staff to secure system access.
This recognition is more than an accolade; it is a powerful signal to students, partners, and regulators that ZOU operates on a secure, modern, and highly resilient digital platform. It cements the university’s credibility and demonstrates its commitment to leading the future of open and distance learning through a safeguarded digital environment.
By combining top-tier technical execution with influential thought leadership, ZOU has firmly positioned itself as the standard for cyber resilience in Zimbabwe’s higher education sector.
