ZOU Mashonaland Central Anchors Future on Absolute Integrity
BINDURA — “Reputations are built over decades but destroyed in moments.” This sobering reminder defined the atmosphere at the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Mashonaland Central Regional Campus this Wednesday 20 May 2026, as staff gathered to sign their annual Integrity Pledges.
Binding a legacy: Staff members at the ZOU Mashonaland Central Regional Campus pose for a kodak moment after signing their annual Integrity Pledges on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, reinforcing the university’s commitment to honesty and accountability.
The ceremony was a profound reaffirmation of character for ZOU, which made history in 2023 as the country’s first state university to sign the pledge, later adopting it as an unwavering annual commitment in 2025.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor T. Njaya called for a deep, personal commitment to ethical culture:
“The Pledge we make today is not a formality. It is a public declaration that we choose honesty over shortcuts, responsibility over convenience, and principle over pressure. When we compromise integrity, we compromise our future.”
The address aligned ZOU’s academic mission with national ideals, echoing the President of Zimbabwe’s assertion that a nation’s progress hinges entirely on the integrity of its people and leaders.
The event, seamlessly coordinated by university leadership concluded with staff putting pen to paper under the guidance of Dr. T. G. Kasuso.
By formalized decree, the educators and administrators of Mashonaland Central did more than fulfill a policy, they bound themselves to a legacy where knowledge is pursued with honour, and success is achieved without shortcuts
